Coventry boxer Neil Simpson featured in Sky Sports Prizefighter Series tonight and lost to Dean Francis whom he had lost to in 1996.

The 38 year old orthodox from Willenhall in Coventry took on favourite Dean Francis at Earls Court in London in a three minute three round Quarter-Final contest.

Simpson, wearing Sky Blue trunks, was a 5/1 outsider for the fight and admitted that this was his last chance as the fight began.

He took a bit of punishment with a left hook from Francis after twenty seconds of the first round and another left connected a few seconds later.

Simpson landed a couple of good shots as the fight went into the second round but Francis was out early. His jabs were more successful than those landed by Simpson and Francis was well ahead as the fight went into the third.

A volley of head shots from Francis landed on Simpson and thirty eight seconds into the third round, referee Phil Edwards stopped the fight and gave the win to Francis.
