Scott second in Slovenia GP

Last night in Slovenia the penultimate round of the 2007 Speedway GP series took place with the Bees duo Chris 'Bomber' Harris and Scott Nicholls looking to score well to cement their places in the top 8 of the championship, whilst Dane Nicki Pedersen was aiming to gain the 18 points he needed to warp up this years title.

Both Bees riders started well with Scott netting a 2nd place finish, and Bomber winning his first ride. However in the early stages having an inside gate position was a huge advantage, and so it proved as the 2nd rides for the Bees duo had them off gate 3 in their respective heats and both could only score a single point each.

Scott continued his good form of late in the GP series by picking up two 2nd places and a win to finish on 10 points and comfortably qualify for the semi-final stage.

Bomber ran a last in his 3rd outing but gained a win and a 3rd in his last 2 outings to finish on 8 points. Unfortunately the 3rd places were the undoing and prevented Bomber from taking part in the semi-finals.

At the sharp end of the championship Pedersens nearest challenger Leigh Adams had a bad middle part of the meeting running a 3rd and last, which meant that Pedersen needed a point in his last qualifyign ride to clinch the championship. Nicki did it in style by winning the heat and the celebrations began. However he didn't allow this to distract him for he lined up in semi-final against Scott and the 2 of them were 1st & 2nd respectively and moved into the double points scoring final.

The final line-up was Pedersen, Crump, Nicholls and Holta - and as has been the case so often this year it was Pedersen that led the way to win the GP.
From a Bees perspective, although he was off gate 3, Scott came good and crossed the line in 2nd place to book his place on the rostrum.

The Bees duo still remain in the top 8, with the final round at the Veltins arena, Gelsenkirchen where the winner of that meeting will bank a cheque of $100,000.
