Coventry Darts player Scott Rand is through to the Quarter-Final of the  Cash Converters Players Championships at Doncaster after beating Raymond Van Barneveld 8-6.

There was plenty of pressure from the five times World Champion but the lorry driver from Coventry, who turned professional in 2010, kept his nerve to set up a Quarter-Final with James Wade tomorrow.

"It's brilliant," said Rand to the PDC website. "Everything clicked on stage for me there and to beat someone of Raymond's quality is amazing.

"He's such a good player that to hold my throw against him so many times and get the victory is a big achievement.

"I'm still new and I've got high hopes that I can become more established and become a full time professional."
