Mixed Results For Coventry Athletes

There was a mixed meeting for the Coventry-based athletes during the two-day Aviva London Grand Prix IAAF Grand Prix meeting at Crystal Palace.

Coventry Godiva's Gold medal Olympian Marlon Devonish came fifth in 20.60secs. American Tyson Gay, the man who is widely tipped to overthrown Usain Bolt at next month's World Championships blew the field apart on his way to his impressive 20.00secs victory. Devonish is set to feature in the 200m at next month's World Championships in Berlin.

Coventry University Student Katrina Wootton, 23, was the last Brit home in the 1500m finishing tenth in 4:13.70. The hot-formed Anna Willaird carried on the winning streak form Paris last week with 4:07.95.

Former AAA Steeplechase champion Tina Brown failed to finish her 5000m event with classy Ethophian Tirunesh Dibaba destroying the field and breaking the stadium record in 14:33.65
