Marlon's 2008 Olympic Dream Definitely Over

Marlon Devonish's dream of a medal in the Beijing Olympics is well and truly over.

The Coventrian, who failed to qualify for the final in the 200m, was included in Team GB's 4x100m team.

However, in Heat 2, the GB team of Simeon Williamson, Craig Pickering, Tyrone Edgar and Devonish were disqualified ina race won by Jamaica, after Pickering had collected the baton outside the area. Devonish said to the BBC after the race: 'It is a team event and we all take full responsibilty.'

Coventry will salute its Olympians on Sunday at 1pm outside Coventry Cathedral in University Square with a special ceremony that will be part of the handing over of the Olympics to 2012 hosts London.
