SKY BLUES PREPARE FOR BAGGIES DUEL

The Coventry City Ladies will be looking for an immediate response to the weekends surprise defeat at the hands of Copsewood Coventry when they host WBA Sunday at Westwood Heath. The Baggies are coming off the back of a 3-2 win at home to bitter rivals Wolves in what was the first fixture of the season for both clubs. The Sky Blues however remain top by virtue of goal difference, though all of their main rivals now have a game in hand.

Joint Manager Paul Cudby offered a frank assessment of his sides performance against their inner city rivals "We were out fought & out played in the first half, however, in the second half as soon as we started stringing a few passes together we began to look very dangerous. Football can be a cruel game & we were punished for not taking our chances. Once they went a goal up they were always going to drop back & try to hold on".

Cudby didn't feel that the defeat was all doom & gloom, noting that "To create as many chances as we did when they were defending for their lives was a real positive. Slightly better finishing or a touch more luck with the crossbar might have meant that we got the draw that which I think was the least we deserved".

Building up to the weekends test, the Birmingham native continued "This is now a massive test of character for the players & and it's our job as coaches to ensure they are picked up & ready for Sunday. I've every confidence in the players that they'll respond this week in training & on Sunday too". The game kicks off at 14:00 on Sunday at Coventry University's Westwood Heath Sports Ground. Entrance & parking is free.
