Jets Take Positives From Smith Brothers U-Turn

With two of their major off season acquisitions reneging on their transfers the Coventry Cassidy Jets have remained positive and have even seen a silver lining as they remain on course for their season opener against Zurich in a fortnight's time. Liam and Luke Smith have decided to return to their former club the Farnham Fast Lane Knights to compete in this seasons BAFL Premier League against the team they leave.

Jets Secretary Adam Etheridge expressed his surprise at the shock u-turn "The boys had actually signed at the back end of 2008 and we'd held off announcing the deal until we knew that everything was in place with their former club and that all parties were happy with the transfer. The timing seems a little off and I'm frankly disappointed that after welcoming them back to the club that they'd choose to leave so close to the start of our European campaign".

A trip to face Swiss Champions the Zurich Renegades awaits the Jets on the 18th of April with the Bristol Aztecs visiting Coventry on May 10th to begin the domestic season. Etheridge took solace in what he considered a good omen "It was around this time last year that the Smith brothers left for Farnham as the word was that we weren't strong enough to compete for honours, the rest, as they say, is history". The Jets went on to complete a perfect domestic season, including a comfortable victory at Farnham, culminating in their thrilling Britbowl victory.

Etheridge continued "I can honestly say that I think the squad we've assembled this season will be the strongest that the Jets have ever fielded. Dax (Michelina) leaves a big whole to fill but we think we've done just that and found a young British QB to lead us into the future to boot. There are numerous other transfers that we're currently busy finalising and once they're announced and we hit the field we'll put on a hell of a show for the folks. The people of Coventry are used to winning football games and I don't see that changing anytime soon".
