The Coventry Jets have made a major investment in upgrading their training equipment. The purchase of over £4,000 worth of tackle dummies, sleds and other equipment that wouldn’t look out of place at an NFL facility backs up the Jets commitment to improving their younger players and investing in the club’s on field future.
“The equipment we have is the same sort that a lot of high schools and colleges use to improve their athletes in the US.” Said cornerback Adam Biggs, continuing “No other team in Britain and very few on the continent have what we have here.”
Biggs went on to say that “the equipment allows you to develop players on a wide range of football fundamentals that cones can not. Use of the 240lb hydraulic tackle sled is helping our rookie players learn to drive their feet more in tackles and lineman are learning to drive better with the large shimmer sled. There’s more equipment we have that the pros use and as a player who has been involved with GB training for the past 7 years, I can honestly say that I’ve never had so much fun and at the same time better development in my training and that’s due to this equipment.”
Coventry’s General Manager and Head Coach Gerry McManus is also a fan of the new investment, “I can teach players so much more with this equipment, I can get more players involved in more challenging drills and work them harder than before. We’ll see the benefit of this equipment on the field of play for decades to come.”
