Holders Wins The British Speedway Grand Prix

won the British Speedway Grand Prix at Cardiff this evening.

A 45,000 strong crowd at the Millennium Stadium saw Coventry Bees rider Chris Harris only get six points from five rides and not make the semi-final.

On a night where tempers amongst Australian riders and Danish riders flared, the semi-finals saw no British riders.

Tomasz Gollob who won the last Grand Prix in Poland faced a ride off against Chris Holder, Rune Holta and Hans Andersen.

The Pole's bike packed up on the first lap, allowed Poole Pirates Chris Holder to book his place in the final along with Hans Andersen.

Jaroslav Hampel, Jason Crump, Fred Lindgren, Nicky Pedersen contested the second semi-final. Hampel took the lead on the first lap whilst Crump followed him home in second.

Chris Holder got off to a great start and under a ton of pressure from Crump, he held on to win and pick up double points.

Chris Harris is 12th in the Championship standings with 42, some fifty points behind leader Jaroslav Hampel.
