Hinckley United FC face possibly being liquidated at 10.30am tomorrow morning.

The Leicestershire based club ,which was relegated from the Conference North last season, is facing a winding up petition issued by the Downes Pension Fund and Kevin Downes, which could see The Knitters liquidated.

The directors of Hinckley United Football Club have issued a statement on Wednesday night saying they have been having meetings with various consultants and administrators to save the future of the club and that the board have had meetings with Greene King Breweries, 2 separate administrators and Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to try and put plans together to safeguard first team football this season at HUFC.

They also said in their statement: " As we write this message to our fans and sponsors, at present there is no easy solution to resolving the winding up petition on Friday.

"What the board of directors are trying to do is safeguard the business and work with our partners going forward.

We fully appreciate this is not where we want to be but if a solution is not found between now and Friday prior to the court hearing you can be re-assured that the board have worked exceptionally hard in the best interests of its fans, shareholders and sponsors."

Update; According to one Hinckley United tweeter; "So Downes has saved Hinckley! (for now) 6 weeks stay of execution to be granted to organise repayment plans."
