Coventry Bees rider Chris Harris was crowned British Champion for the third time in the British Final at Wolverhampton tonight.

Chris Harris, Ed Kennett, Ben Barker and Lewis Bridger all competed on a track at Monmore Green that caused a number of problems.

Harris, Kennett and Barker won their first heats with Barker winning Heat Five and Harris beat Bridger in a re-run Heat Six.

Ed Kennett had problems with his bike in Heat 11 after Harris has recorded his third victory.

Barker also had problems in Heat 12 which saw Scott Nicholls beat Lewis Bridger.

In Heat 14, Chris Harris, who has already qualified for the final at Cardiff, suffered a bad crash, hitting the fence. He got up but with Ben Barker taking the 3pts and one for Bridger, it was to prove costly for the Coventry number one.

After four riders each, all four Bees riders were in the semi-finals behind Nicholls and Danny King, who had to go through s run-off before the meeting started to qualify.

Heat 17 was won by Ed Kennett which booked his place in the semi-final but Lewis Bridger suffered a bad fall and by not scoring any points missed out.

Harris won Heat 18 to give him 12 points, one more than Kennett and he was joined on twelve points by Ben Barker who won Heat 19 and got through to the final thanks to the count-back.

Harris, Kennett, Danny King and former Bees rider Stuart Robson contested the race off in front of a good crowd which contained a large number of Bees supporters.

Harris won the race but the action was all behind him with Ipswich Witches' Daniel King just pipping Ed Kennett for the final place in a Coventry V Ipswich Final.

The race to be British Champion and the race to be at Cardiff as a wildcard entry along side Chris Harris was on. Harris shot into the lead. Scott Nicholls chased him down to book his place in July 10th. Ben Barker was third with Daniel King fourth.

Harris said to Sky Sports: "I have been through the pain barrier tonight but it was paid off. "I'll enjoy this one and look forward to the next meeting."
