The best of British speedway talent was on show tonight at the Poole track, in front of the Sky TV cameras, for the 2009 British Final with the Bees interest with Edward Kennett and Chris Harris. Former Bees Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson were also in the line-up.

Edwards first outing secured a second place finish behind Lee Richardson in heat 2, but heat 3 showed vintage Chris Harris who at one point found himself relegated to third place before a storming start to the second lap saw him pass both Nicholls and Tai Woffinden around the outside to take the heat win.

Thereafter the Bees duo put in some good rides to score well and both finished in the top 6.
The top 2 were Richardson on 14 points dropping the 1 point against Scott Nicholls, and Edward Kennet on 13 points - both went straight into the final deciding heat.
The next 4 riders were made up of Chris Harris on 12 points, Tai Woffinden on 11 points, Scott Nicholls on 10 points and Simon Stead on 9 points who all qualified for what was termed 'the last chance' semi-final where the top 2 would progress to the final.

Not noted for his gating at times, Chris Harris produced a great start to lead the way to a heat win, with Woffinden holding off challenges from first Nicholls and then Stead to finish in the vital second spot.

So to the final, and a great sight for Bees fans as Chris made the start again and led the way to the heta win and being crowned 2009 British speedway champion. Better still for Bees supoprters was Edward passing Woffinden to take second place on the podium to give the Coventry boys the honours on the night. Better still is the second place for Edward sets him up for being in the line-up for the British speedway GP in Cardiff next month as a wild card entry.
