Great Start For Blaze

Coventry Blaze got off to a great start in their Continental Cup challenge with a 6-3 victory against Stavbar Maribor.

In Bolzano,Italy, with a good number of Blaze fans, who were either on the Harry Shaw coach or had flown in via Rome or Milan, in the arena, Jon Weaver netted twice from power play goals.

After 13.55, Scott Kelman assisted by Danny Stewart made it three. The lead was slightly reduced by Krajl firing home three minutes later.

Blaze attacked most of the way through the second period and went even further ahead through Ben Watkins and Sylvain Deschalets who had set up Watkins goal.




Paul Thompson's team had incurred a number of penalties and were short- handed when Krajl hit his second of the night.

Russ Cowley added a sixth for Blaze and although Kovacic netted after 49.31. Blaze had got the win they wanted in their first game.

Tomorrow, Blaze take on Hungary's top side Dunauvaros.
