Warwickshire are on course for their fifth batting point after reaching 349-6 on the opening day of their County Championship game at Hove.

The start was delayed due to the umpire deeming that new signing Nayan Doshi was ineligible to play after permission for him to play had not been received from Surrey but Warwickshire started well.

The first wicket went down with the score on 125 when Darren Maddy who has been selected for England's Twenty/20 World Cup squad was out for 53 which included a six and seven fours.

Ian Westwood who opened the batting with Maddy went on to make 110 with Kumar Sangakkara making 59 before he was caught and bowled.

With Trott,Troughton and Loudon all losing their wickets,Tim Ambrose was unbeaten on 52.
