Former Coventry Bees rider Lee Richardson was killed in a meeting in Poland on Sunday afternoon.

Richardson who rides for Lakeside Hammers, was riding for Rzeszow in Wroclaw.

The 33 yeard old hit a fence, suffering a massive blow to his chest and died in hospital.

As a result, Coventry Bees Elite League meeting tonight against Lakeside Hammers has been postponed.

A statement by The British Speedway Promoters' Association has summed up the feeling of many when it said: "The BSPA's thoughts are with Lee's family and friends at this awful time."
