It was a mixed night for two Coventry boxers in action last night. Both James Flinn and Baz Carey were on the Hennessey Sports bill at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The fights were moved to Wolverhampton following poor ticket sales for the event at Coventry's Sky Dome, although many local fans were put off by the high prices being charged.

Standard Triumph Club's James Flinn, won his second fight of his career on points against Paddy Pollock whilst fellow Coventry City supporter Baz Carey, whose career highs includes being the first man to take Amir Khan the distance, was beaten on points by Steve Saville in a light welterweight contest. Carey has now not won since 2005.

In the main event Birmingham's Wayne Elcock beat Darren McDermott in a twelve round middlewight contest. Dudley's McDermott suffered cuts following a clash of heads and the fight was stopped in the second round.

Tile Hill lad, Steve Bendall is in action tonight taking on Liverpool's Paul Smith at the NIA. Speaking to Covsupport, Bendall said that he was feeling good and looking forward to the fight. The fight is on the undercard of the Amir Khan v Michael Gomez fight and may be shown on ITV.com.
