Following last nights victory against Belle Vue, the Bees travelled to the south coast to the home of the Eastbourne Eagles for another Elite league contest, but with a team missing Rory Schlien and Filip Sitera.

Tracking rider replacement for Sitera the Bees had drafted in Adam Shields as a replacement for Rory.

The match didn't begin brightly for the Bees as the Eagles scored two 5-1 maximums in the first 4 heats to open up an early 6 point advantage. However following successive drawn heats in 5 and 6 the Bees pairing of Shields and Kennett pulled the deficit back to 2 points with a maximum 5-1.

The Bees achilles heel in this match lay with the reserve pairing of Auty and Ksiezak who on the night took 11 rides between them for a return of only 5 points.

The match remained on an even keel with any heat advantage cancelled out soon after so that going into heat 14 the Eagles held a 40-38 lead over the Bees. Sadly Adam Shields, who had previously scored 11 out of a possible 12 points, fell and was excluded from the re-run. With the remaining Bees rider in the heat being Josh Auty the Eagles took full advantage to record yet another 5-1 maximum and take the match victory as the 6 point lead could not be overturned in the final race of the night.

With the additional point still up for grabs the Bees pairing of Shields and Harris tried to keep the scoreline within 7 points to gain the Bees the extra point. Try as they might Chris Harris finished in second place but sadly Adam Shields could not take the vital third place despite his best efforts, the resulting 4-2 for th home side gave an overall scoreline of Eastbourne 49 Coventry 41.
