Draw For Leamington But Bedworth Are Beaten

Leamngton were held to a 1-1 draw this lunchtime in a Southern League Premier Division fixture at the New Windmill.

A crowd of 638 had seen Frome take a 40th minute lead through Smith before Blyth snatched a point with a goal six minutes into the second half.

Bedworth United ended 2011 with a 3-1 home defeat to Northwood. Hawkins fired the visitors ahead in the 21st minute before MattyGardner delighted most of the 214 strong crowd when he levelled a minute before the break.

Unfortunately, for the Greenbacks who travel to Daventry Town on Monday, Hawkins hit a second in the 52nd minute and Alexander added to the misery with a third ten minutes from time.

Rugby Town had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Barton Rovers. Gaskin fired Rugby ahead in the 40th minute but Bull levelled in the 62nd minute.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Coventry Copsewood drew 1-1 at Pershore Town. PJ Gordon put Copsewood ahead in the 29th minute, before Loader equalised in the 70th minute.

Goals from Church, Taylor and O.Manoochehri gave Southam United a 3-2 home win over Cadbury Athletic.

Racing Club Warwick's game at Bartley Green was postponed.

Alvis' Midland Combination Division One game at Bromsgrove Sporting was postponed due to Bromsgrove involvement in the Evesham Hospital Junior Cup whilst in Division Two, Coventry Sphinx based Young Warriors beat Coventry Spartans 4-0 but FC Stratford lost 6-0 at Henley Forest.

In the Coventry Telegraph Cup, Nuneaton Griff got through against Bedworth Ex-Service with a 3-1 penalties win after the match finished in a 1-1 draw.
