Dalziel Stays At Blaze

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club have announced that they will retain John Dalziel as their match announcer.

The former Stoke Aldermoor resident, was recently sacked from the Morning Show by radio station Mercia FM for his part in a competition in which a winner was allegedly 'found'.

Seen as the victim of a witch hunt, Dalziel has had no such problems in four years at the Sky Dome and told the Blaze website that he was deighted to be back for a fifth year.

"I'm delighted to be working with the Blaze for what will be the fifth season!" said Dalziel. "It's been a tough few weeks recently and having the support of the Blaze organisation and all the supporters has really helped me get through it.

"I'm really looking forward to the new season and I'm looking forward to working with the Blaze and the matchnight team, to create an even better atmosphere and improve the whole matchnight experience even more. Whatever happens in the future with Mercia, I always wanted to remain the Blaze's official matchnight presenter and I'm really happy we'll be working together again next season."

It looks unlikely that John will appear at the Ricoh Arena next season. Often wheeled out for the terriblly embarrassing "Welcome To The Ricoh" pre-match spiel or at half-time, it is understood that City have a contract with the radio station rather than Mr Dalziel and it is the radio station who will provide any announcers that may be required.
