Covemtry's Moto GP rider Cal Crutchlow paid tribute to Marco Simoncelli who was killed this morning during the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Italian lost control of his bike on the second lap of the race at Sepang and was apparently hit by Colin Edwards and then Valentino Rossi as he slid across the track.

Simoncelli's helmet came off in the collision and although he was taken to the circuit's medical centre, he died from the injuries he had sustained.

The race was immediately abandoned.

A shocked Crutchlow tweeted: "RIP Marco Simoncelli ! A great rider and all round nice guy. My thoughts are with all his family & friends. I will never forget today … #58"
