Coventry born Cal Crutchlow finished eighth in the French Moto GP.

Crutchlow started on the second row at a wet Le Mans and had got up to third with sixteen laps to go.

However, whilst in fifth place, Crutchlow lost control of his bike with ten laps to go and skidded off. He was able to get his Yamaha bike restarted and continued to finish in eighth.

Jorge Lorenzo won the race with Rossi second and Lorenzo third.

Tweeting after the race, Crutchlow wrote: "Oh well…Disappointed to crash obviously but at least I was near the front challenging at least.Wasn't supposed to be this weekend I suppose.

"Had some issues with speed of bike some could only push in corners to try but my own fault in not blaming anything. Just happens sometimes.

"Great ride by podium guys though …! Now I look forward to Barcelona …, thanks for support guys."
