Coventry born Cal Crutchlow crashed out of the final MotoGP of the season.
In his final race for Yamaha Tech 3, Crutchlow was one of a number who did not finish the GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana, which saw Marc Marques finish third to become the first rookie to win the Championship since Kenny Roberts in 1978.
Jorge Lorenzo won the race.
Crutchlow tweeted: "Really sorry guys ! Wanted it too much for my team & pushed too hard.So so sorry to them but we had a great season no doubt…"
