Coventry may still stage Warwickshire county cricket matches.

Coventry City Councillor Kevin Foster has persuaded Warwickshire CCC CEO Colin Pavey to attend a meeting at the Ricoh Arena in the next few weeks to discuss plans to play county cricket in our city.

Birmingham City Council had voted in favour of a redevelopment to Edgbaston but there have been objections from hundreds of local residents and councillors.

Foster who is deputy leader of Coventry City Council told the Coventry Observer: "We will be discussing how world class cricket can come to Coventry.

"The final decision on Edgbaston will be made by the Government later this year but for us there are real benefits Coventry can offer.

"Who knows what will happen in the future but we have been bowled over by their response."
