Coventry To Honour Olympic Heroes

Coventry is to own it's Olympic Athletes in a civic ceremony on August 24th.

On the day that Beijing hands the torch over to London to signaLthe start of preparations for the 2012 games which will be held in London and a number of parts of Britain,hopefully, Coventry, Coventry will honour those who have competed for Team GB in the games.

Dave Moorcroft, Dave Long,Marlon Devonish, Neil Adams and Katherine Merry are just some of the Olympians who will be given a VIP Reception at the Herbert Art Gallery in Jordan Well starting at 12.30pm.

After speeches by local civic dignitries, the Olympians will be conducted into a Coventry and Warwickshire Hall Of Fame.

The actual handing over of the torch will be shown on a big screen in Priory Street with the Old Cathedral staging a sporting exhibition.
