Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team made it two wins out of two under new coach Marc Lefebvre with a 4-2 win over Braehead Clan.

The Blaze had not beaten Braehead Clan in any of their three meetings this season and with new coach Marc Lefebrve saying that he would get his team playing blue collar hockey, there was hope that the Blaze could beat a team second in the Elite League table.

The Blaze took to the ice in pink jerseys for Valentine's Day, in front of a good crowd at The Skydome, despite the match being live on Premier Sports, and had the better of the early attacks.

After suffering two powerplay's, Coventry took the lead at 13.42 when Michael Devin scored with a goal from just inside the blue line, with assists for Ashley Tait and Adam Henrich.

Into the second period and Ryan Ginand made it 2-0 when he scored after dancing his way before firing home, assisted by Michael Devin on 21.05.

Adam Henrich had a great chance midway through the second period but saw his shot saved by The Clan's back up net minder on a night where Belfast's 3-1 win at the Panthers vurtually gave them the league title.

Mike Zacharias made a good save at the other end and McGrain hit the post as the Blaze went into the third period on the powerplay.

On 42.51, the Blaze had a third goal when Mike Egener scored from a pass from Ryan Ginand, the league's top scorer, who was behind the net.

After the game was delayed due to Mike Zacharias having a broken strap, Adam Henrich broke away to score on 45.30 and make it 4-0.

Chris Frank smashed Cale Tanaka to the back of the head, giving Coventry the powerplay before Nycholaty and Adam Henrich got together and the powerplay which has lasted nine seconds in the 51st minute was over.

Braehead pulled one back through Joe Cullen from a Shane Last assist on 54.05.

Two penalties gave Braehead a 5-3 and Braehead had a second when Mario Laroque scored, assisted by Neill Trimm and Joe Cullen with four minutes left.

Ginand had a shot saved at the end of the powerplay as the Blaze took a deserved victory.

Coventry Blaze's game at Belfast on Saturday is live on Premier Sports.
