Coventry Blaze Beaten In Thirteen Goal Thriller

Coventry Blaze were beaten 8-5 by Belfast Giants in an Elite League match tonight.

After the Blaze's over-time win last night, it was back to the Sky Dome for a second game against The Giants.

This time, it was the Blaze who opened the scoring with Mike Beleskey scoring on 1.26 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Shea Guthrie and Greg Leeb.

Just over four minutes later, it was two when Mike Schutte found the net, assisted by Shea Guthrie.

Belfast pulled one back through a powerplay goal from Noah Clarke on 7.38, assisted by Mason and Sandrock and levelled on 10.22 through Damien Rycroft, assisted by Andrew Fournier and Dave Phillips.

Things got heated when Brad Leeb got 20 minutes plus ten for abusing an official before Belfast went 3-2 up on 13.56 when Andrew Fournier scored, assisted by Graeme Walton and Daymen Rycroft

On 14.25, net minder Peter Hirsch got ten minutes for leaving his crease and twenty minutes penalty for being the third man in whilst Ben Olsson, Greg Stewart and Steve Chalmers all got five minutes for fighting, with two minute penalties for Sandrock and Peacock.

Into the second period and Belfast increased their lead on 23.28 through Darryl Lloyd, assisted by Damien Rycroft. 

A fight then started between Adam O'Keefe and Ben Olsson which saw the Blaze player get five minutes for fighting and twenty minutes penalty.

On 25.29, Dustin Cameron scored a third for the Blaze, assisted by Shea Guthrie and Mike Beleskey but Belfast went up the other end and scored a fifth through Matt Towe with assists for Fournier and Mason.

David Phillips scored an unassisted sixth for Belfast on 27.30 before Dustin Cameron scored his second of the night on 30.04.

On 35.41, it was 7-4 to Belfast when Noah Clarke netted, assisted by Sandrock and Colbert.

A minute and fifty nine seconds into the third period, Greg Leeb scored a fifth for The Blaze, assisted by Mike Schutte and Gerome Giudice.

There were no more goals or major incidents until Belfast scored an eighth on 57.51 when Dave Phillips, scored by Clarke and Stewart and that was it for the night.
