Coventry Blaze went down to a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle Vipers tonight.

After the battle against Nottingham Panthers last night, the Blaze travelled to the Whitley Bay Ice Rink to take on a Newcastle Vipers side, who are rumoured as being close to folding with their players being told to find contract with new clubs.

The first half was a dull affair with little action for the few Blaze fans who travelled, apart from a goal disallowed with no penalties.

Thie first penalty of the match came on 27.58 to Stewart for tripping. When he was back on the ice, he found the net to give Newcastle a lead on 31.08 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Mahovsky and Carrol.

Then, seventeen seconds before the end of the second period, The Vipers went further ahead when Pripich scored.

With less than three and a half minutes of the match left, Luke Fulghum scored for The Blaze, assisted by Russ Cowley.

The Blaze went full pelt for an equaliser pulling net minder Tom Murdy who had replaced the injured Brett Jaeger but Newcastle went and scored an empty net goal on 59.25 through Carrol to wrap up a 3-1 win.

On Wednesday, Coventry Blaze take on Manchester Phoenix at the Sky Dome in a 'Best Of Britain' match before they face Hull Stingrays at home on Saturday and then travel to Sheffield to face The Steelers.
