Coventry Blaze Beat The Vipers

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club beat Newcastle Vipers 6-3 tonight.

With blocks at the SkyDome displaying Christmas decorations, the Blaze who won 2-0 at Hull last night, were without Lee, Smith, Soderstrom, Weaver, Murdy and Farmer for the game.

After 64 seconds of the match, Coventry took the lead when Luke Fulghum scored his second goal of the weekend, assisted by Russ Cowley.

That was it in terms of goals for the first period but the second was a different matter.

Sixteen year old Ross Venus hit a second on 23.24, assisted by Zanon and Cowley then on 27.43, Owen Fussey slammed home with assists from Owen and Cowley.

A cracking shot from Greg Owen made it 4-0 on 31.47 and Dan Carlson came from off the boards to make it five on 32.24, assisted by Fulghum and Cowley before Owen fired home ihs second of the night on 34.46.

Newcastle hit back early in the third with powerplay goals from Prpich and Mahovsky and on 49.49 Dean Holland hit a third but Coventry held on to win.
