Coventry Bees Beat Poole

Coventry Bees Speedway Team beat Poole Pirates 49-42 tonight.

In an Elite League meeting at Brandon shown live on Sky Sports, Kenni Larsen took the lead in the opening heat and Emil Sayfutdinov in is first meeting in the Coventry sunshine followed him but Chris Holder came underneath the Russian and it was 4-2 to Coventry.

Nick Morris and Travis McGowan in two and four went for The Bees in Heat Two. The heat had to be restarted. However, they could not get near Gafurov and Newman and Poole took the heat 5-1.

Heat three was also re-run after Jason Doyle hit a fence and took a bang to the head. Davy Watt kept out Fisher and Pawlicki for a 3-3 and it was now 10-8 to Poole. Doyle was ruled out for the rest of meeting.

Ed Kennett and Travis McGowan rode in Heat Four. Ward and Newman got the lead but Kennett came back before Newman and McGowan came off their bike on the final lap. Newman was disqualified and McGowan given the point in a 3-3.

Pawlicki and Ryan Fisher went again in Heat Five. Fisher got ahead and Pawlicki followed. Holder tried to charge them down but Coventry got their first 5-1 of the night.

Sayfutdinov and Larsen took on Gafurov and Darcy Ward in Heat Six. The Russian took the lead, chased down by Ward. With Larsen in third, it finished 4-2 to the Bees and Coventry lead by twenty points to sixteen.

Poole were down to five riders after Kyle Newman was ruled out with a knee injury. Kennett and Morris rode for The Bees in Heat Seven. Watt led with Kennett second and a third for Renat Gafurov gave top of the Elite League Poole Pirates a 4-2 win.

Kenni Larsen and McGowan rode in Heat Eight whilst Gafurov had to ride again. Larsen took the win with Andersen second and McGowan battled for third for a 4-2 to Coventry.

Heat nine saw Poole only field Darcy Ward against Pawlicki and Fisher, so that Gafurov could have three more riders. The heat started. Pawlicki got away whilst Ward lost control of his bike and took down Fisher on the first lap. With Ward disqualified and ruled out of the rest of the meeting, Coventry had to ride the four laps for a 5-0 in a competitive manner. Pawlicki was nearly a quarter of a lap ahead as he took the win to take his total to five points from three rides.

Renat Gafurov was back for Heat Ten with Watt against Satfutdinov and Larsen. Both Bees riders and Gafurov went down altogether on the first bend. Thankfully, everyone was able to walk away and all four riders were back for the restart.

Sayfutdinov shot through whilst on lap three, Watt was able to get past Larsen for a 4-2.

With Coventry 35-24 ahead, Poole were able to have a tactical ride and Chris Holder was nominated for double points in Heat eleven.

The Australian led all the way whilst Ed Kennett looked set for second until his bike started to give him problems on the last lap and Andersson got past him for an 8-1 to Poole to reduced the Bees lead to four points.

Gafurov had to start fifteen metres back after touching the tape in a re-run heat twelve. Watt won the heat with Ryan Fisher second for a 3-3.

Sayfutdinov and Kennett trailed Holder in Heat Thirteen. The Russian gave it all he had but Holder held on to win and it was another 3-3 and the Bees 42-38 ahead.

Only Gafurov rode for Poole in Heat Fourteen against Pawlicki and Nick Morris. Gafurov yet again jumped the start but all three riders were back. Garfurov lost control on the third bend of the first lap and was disqualified.For the second time in the meeting, Pawlicki was able to ride to a victory without any opponents.

With the Bees nine points ahead going into the final heat, Poole needed a 5-1 to get an away point and they had Chris Holder and Davy Watt ride against Sayfutdinov and Kennett.

Ed Kennett's bike packed up on the first lap but Sayfutdinov rode really well to take second place behind Holder and although it was a 4-2  final heat win, it was a Coventry 49-42 Poole result and three more points for the Bees. 

The Bees are at home to Birmingham on Friday night before travelling to Belle Vue next Monday.
