Cov Rugby Hammer Blackheath

Coventry Rugby Club hammered Blackheath 63-21 this afternoon at Butts Park Arena.

A crowd of 1174 saw Blackheath take the lead with a second minute Canty try which Marshall converted.

Scott Morgan's side replied with a sixth minute Daynes try, converted by Hodgson who then ran in a try two minutes later which he converted.

Cliff Hodgson was in fine form, kicking a 12th minute penalty and six minutes later, scoring a second try which he converted and scoring a third try in the 28th minute after Hurrell had scored a try in the 23rd minute.

Blackheath replied with a 31st minute Stradwick try and another six minutes later from Listan which were both converted by Marshall but Coventry ended the half leading 39-21 when Tibbatts ran in a try converted by Marshall.

The second half belonged to Coventry with Clarke scoring a 48th minute try, converted by Hodgson. Tibbatts scored his second try of the game in the 56th minute and nine minutes later, Wright chipped in with a try which Hodgson converted.

In the final minute, Clarke rounded off a great win with his second try of a game which saw Coventry win by 63-21.
