Cov Rugby Beat The Students

Coventry Rugby Club beat Loughborough Students 41-34 this afternoon at the Butts Park Arena.

Watched by a crowd of 820, Loughborough were first to score when Hall kicked a second minute penalty.

In the 15th minute, Coventry came back when Harris ran in a try which Hodgson converted. Six minutes later and Evans scored a second try which was also converted by Hodgson who converted twice more when Harris ran in his second try of the match in the 27th minute and Price scored with a try in the 33rd minute.

Hall pulled a try back for Loughborough in the 36th minute which he converted but in first half injury time, Hugard scored with a try for Coventry which Hodgson calmly converted to see Phil Maynard's side lead 35-10 at the break.

Any thoughts of Cov running away with the match were quickly dispelled when Kinloch scored a try before Hodgson scored with a drop goal.

Loughborough replied with a Holland try in the 51st minute and one from Morrison which Hall converted six minutes later.

A minute into stoppage time and Hodgson kicked a penalty to see Coventry past the forty points mark and although Whitfield scored a try in the fifth minute of stoppage time which Hall converted, Coventry won 41-34.
