City Centre Cycling will be back on the streets of Britain next April and May.

Cities and towns have to bid to hosts the races announced on Saturday during the Tour Of Britain but what better way to celebrate the life of James Starley, the inventor of the modern bicycle than in his home City of Coventry as well as part of the Cultural Olympiad?

Coventry's world famous Transport Museum has linked up with a Leamington based Arts company to launch Extraordinary Cycles.

Part of their plans include an annual week long Festival Of Cycling and hosting a City Centre race is likely to be on the agenda when Extraordinary Cycles is launched at a public forum at 7pm on Saturday September 27th at the Transport Museum.

Said Lucy Rumble, marketing director at the museum: "Cycling has become a phenomenon and it is doing brilliantly - if it wasn't for Coventry,we wouldn't have the cycle we know and love today.

"I'm keen to highlight the importance of cycling for Coventry in relation to the 2012 London Olympics but we need to give people ideas for what we can do next.
