Clan Repelled By Blaze

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club saw off Braehead Clan tonight with a 7-2 victory at the Sky Dome in an Elite League match.

At a not as full as expected Sky Dome with half a dozen Clan fans making the journey from Glasgow, tonight, the Blaze got off to a good start when they scored on 7.35. Jason Robinson, who won both his fights against Bernier, was given the player finally given the credit for the final touch, assisted by Dan Carlson and Russ Cowley.




Braehead looked the better team as the period came to a close but in to the second, and it was 2-0 to the Blaze when Owen Fussy scored a powerplay goal on 22.29 with assists for Weaver and Chambers.

Russ Cowley extended the lead further still when he scored on 24.52, assisted by Fulghum and Zanon, and on 33.16, Dan Carlson got on the score-sheet with a short handed goal, assisted by Fulghum and Zanon to make it 4-0 and to take his points contribution for the Blaze to 501 in all competitions.

Braehead changed their net minder with Will replacing JF Perras but he was soon picking the puck out of the net when Greg Owen scored a minute into the third period, assisted by Weaver and Lee.

Twelve seconds later and there was a sixth goal for the Blaze fans to cheer thanks to Luke Fulghum scoring, assisted by Cowley and Carlson.

Braehead found the net on 46.52 through Cook but it was a mere consolation
as Greg Chambers hit a seventh on 51.03.

There was still time for Krestanovich to score on 56.29 as Blaze headed off
The Blaze head off to Rouen for Continental Cup action with a 7-2 victory.

Coventry's first game is on Friday against Liepajas Metalurgs of Latvia. Face off is at 4.30pm.
