City Ladies To Face Wolves

Coventry City Ladies have been drawn against Midland Combination League rivals Wolves in this weekend's County Cup semi-final. Both teams will be delighted to have avoided the big guns of Northern Premier League side Aston Villa & the National Premier's Birmingham City.

The tie will be played on Sunday the 15th of February at Nuneaton Town's Liberty Way ground. Chairman David Singleton was "excited by the prospect of hosting the game at such a great facility "

Manager Paul Cudby knows Wolves quite well having played them already this season "Playing Wolves probably represents our best chance of getting through to the county cup final, and I'm sure they'd be thinking exactly the same too. We'll need to be at the very top of our game to win, and we'll be working very hard to give ourselves the best possible chance".

In their prior meeting early this season Wolves easily dispatched an out of sorts Sky Blues team 1-0 that were struggling for form away from home.

Cudby enters the game on the back of an excellent league win over second placed TNS & Shrewsbury Town "That was such an important result for us today, TNS are a very strong side and we've had three close games with them this year and they played very well today too. We showed terrific character and played some great football, especially in the second half scoring three high quality goals. I think the celebrations after the goals showed what it meant to all the players today and I'm delighted for everyone involved".

The result came at a cost as full back Natalie Wilcox suffered a broken leg. Wilcox is the second City player to suffer such an injury this season after goalkeeper Nina Robery suffered similar fete earlier in the year.

"Nat's injury at the end was a real shame, she's been in tremendous form, an important player for us and is a strong character too, so I've no doubts she'll be even stronger when she comes back".

The match kicks off at 2pm and should see a tremendous contest between two Midland Combination promotion chasers. A place in the final is at stake as both sides look to stop a run that has seen Birmingham City win seven straight County Cup titles.
