Challenge Cup Defeat For Blaze

Coventry Blaze were beaten 3-1 at Nottingham Panthers tonight in a Challenge Cup tie.

Around 200 Blaze fans were in the Nottingham Arena to see a full strengh Blaze side play-out a goal-less first half.

On 28.32, Nottingham took the lead with a power-play goal thanks to Myers banging home after Blaze Net Minder Brett Jaeger was unable to stop a Clarke shot.



However, back came the Blaze and on 37.34, Owen Fussey levelled, assisted by Owen and Lee after Kowlaski had made an inital stop.

The Blaze had fought well to get the game level but on 39.07, Levers put the Panthers back in front when he scored assisted by Lepine and Clarke.

Jaeger was pulled as the Blaze went in search of an equaliser but with sixteen seconds of the match left, Levers scored an empty net goal to give Nottingham a 3-1 win.

Sunday night action sees the Blaze at home to Braehead Clan.
