Former Coventry City Girls forward Karen Carney played for England women's team in their opening World Cup Finals game against Japan.

Hope Powell's side fell behind. Two late goals from Kelly Smith looked to be enough to give England a 2-1 win but in the last kick of the game, Japan equalised with a stunning free kick.

England who have former Coventry City Ladies boss Mark Phillips as part of their coaching staff are next in action on Friday against Germany who beat Argentina 11-0 in their opening match of the tournament being held in China.
