Coventry British Super Bikes rider Cal Crutchlow signed off with a second place at the meeting today at Brands Hatch.

The Wyken lad,who is moving up to the World Supersport Series next season, finished in second place in the opening race of the two race meeting.

He was beaten by Champion Shaky Bryne by 1.8 seconds into second place.

Speaking to www.britishsuperbike.com,Crutchlow said: "I am a bit disappointed to have not been able to get the better of Shakey but I did have a go mid-race but it just wasn't to be. I made a few mistakes and he was able to get a bit of an advantage, but another podium means we are still in the fight for second in the championship standings and I have closed in on Tom (Sykes), but I do want to make amends in the next race and get that final win."

In the second race, Crutchlow could only finish four with Byrne again winning.

In the final BSB 2008 standings.Cal finished third with 318 points
