Coventry Godiva's Marlon Devonish was one of a few busy athletes at Aviva London Grand Prix IAAF Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace.

The 35-year-old failed to qualify for the men’s 100m final on Friday evening after finishing sixth in 10.32secs behind Jamaican Nester Carter who later came second behind fellow countryman Yohan Blake in the final.

Then on Saturday he featured in Great Britain One squad that finished third behind the winning American outfit in the men’s 4 by 100m relay.

On the relay race he said: “It was exciting I enjoyed it. I thought I ran a good strong leg. It’s encouraging. We always want to perform as best we can in front of a home crowd and the crowd definitely made a massive difference.”

Fellow Cov Godiva athlete Rowena Cole finished sixth in On Camp With Kelly women’s 800m event with a time of 2mins 06.34secs. German Jana Hartmann won in 2.01.97.

Coventry City supporter former British sprint champion Katherine Merry took part in the Aviva legends race.
