Blaze Win Penalty Shoot-Out Again

Coventry Blaze needed a penalty shoot-out for the second successive game but came back three times to beat Nottingham Panthers 4-3.

At a three quarters full Sky Dome this evening, Nottingham took the lead, 2.47 into the second period through Johan Molin only for Barrie Moore to equalise fifty seconds later from the Blue Line.

After 36.56, Dan Tessier put the visitors back in front to the delight of their 170 strong support. Blaze kept pushing and on a 44th minute powerplay, Sylvain Deschalets fired home assisted by Jon Weaver and Dan Carlson.

Nottingham took the lead for a third time through Jade Galbraith after 47.06 and for a third time, Blaze equalised through Adam Calder,assisted by Carlyle Lewis and Jon Weaver with three minutes and thirty seconds remaining of the match.

The game went into over-time like last night's game at Cardiff and Paul Thompson had Mathias Soderstrom given a ten minute penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct by referee Carson.

Still level, the game went to penalties which the Blaze won 3-2 with Adam Calder, Barrie Moore and Dan Carlson with a miss from Deschalets to keep their place at the top of the table.

On Saturday, Blaze are at home to Newcastle Vipers (face off 7pm) before travelling to Newcastle on Sunday for a game which starts at 5.30pm.
