After 12 failed attempts, two years seven months and twelve days, Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team finally won at Nottingham Panthers with a 7-6 victory.
In front of a crowd of around 5,000, The Blaze took the lead on 5.54 when Luke Fulghum scored a short-handed goal.
Nottingham equalised with a Matt Francis powerplay goal on 7.15 before Owen Fussey put Coventry back in front on 9.40, only for Brock Wilson to make it 2-2 on 13.12.
Into the second half and the Blaze hit two quick goals through Matic Kralj on 21.58 and Shea Guthrie on 24.26. Brandon Benedict hit the Panthers third goal of the night,before Owen Fussey hit a hat-trick around a goal for Matt Myers on 35.30.
The Blaze's 7-4 lead lasted until Scott Champagne scored on 54.19 and although David Beauregard hit a sixth for the home side on 59.22, it was not enough to stop the Blaze from leaving the NIC with a 7-6 win.
