Blaze Take The Sting Out Of Hull

Coventry Blaze won 7-3 in their Challenge Cup Group B game against Hull Stingrays tonight.

At a half empty Skydome, the Blaze side,who again were without Scott Kelman, trailled to a goal from Jason Kostadine in the eighth minute of the first period.

In the 15th minute, Barrie Moore equalised for Paul Thompson's team assisted by Sylvain Deschalets.

Paul Thompson used the break to rally his troops and with one second under two minutes of the second period gone, Corey LeClair fired the Blaze ahead.



Four minutes later, Carlyle Lewis, who scored twice in the 11-1 win at Edinburgh last night, added a third with assists from Weaver and Russ Cowley.

The Blaze support were still cheering this goal when eighteen seconds later, it was 4-1 thanks to Man Of The Match Danny Stewart finding the net from a LeClair assist.

Hull reduced the arrears through Steve Slonia only for Danny Stewart to hit his second of the night, just before the end of the second period.

Five minutes into the third period, Stewart completed his hat-trick firing home with a shorthanded goal before Dan Carlson added a seventh.

Hull, who had eleven supporters in the crowd, did end the game with something to cheer when Jeff Glowa scored.

On Friday night, The Blaze travel to Belfast Giants. Face off is at 7pm.
