Coventry Blaze went down to a 3-1 home defeat to Hull Stingrays tonight.

There was a poor turn-out at the Sky Dome for this game which was notable for the absence of Blaze boss Paul Thompson who was serving a match ban.

About half a block of Hull fans had made it to Coventry and they were the ones cheering when they took the lead on 12.14 when Silverthorn scored, assisted by Cloutier and Coburn.

Coventry levelled three minutes into the second with an own goal which ended up being credited to the Blaze's Dan Carlson with assists from Fussey and Lee.

But, Hull struck on 47.57 when Dulle found the net, assisted by Davies and Cloutier and then they wrapped up the match when Coburn hit a third on 58.58 with an empty net goal.

Assistant-coach Luc Chabot, who was in charge of the team in the absence of Thompson, said to the Blaze website after the match: "We are very disappointed. Hull played well but we made some bad decisions and they capitalised.

"That is two games in a row where we have scored just one goal, our so-called top guns are not producing. They are paid to produce and they are not doing that at the moment.

"We have scored only four goals in our last nine periods of hockey. We are on a bad run right now. There are no excuses, we need to find a way to win these games."

The Blaze travel to Sheffield on Sunday.
