Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club have signed Greg Chambers from Basingstoke Bisons.

The 26 year old British Canadian has signed a two year deal and Blaze Coach Paul Thompson told the Blaze website: "Chubbs is a very, very special talent "He sees the ice on the same level as a Tony Hand and to put him in that category gives you a good idea of the things he can do with the puck. He is now ready for the challenge of playing on a team that's expected to win a trophy.

"We will be pushing him and leaning on him to add creativity and a spark to our line up, that only guys of his ability can do. For the first time in four years he will have a team around him that will compliment his skills and vision. I would go as far as saying there is no more offensively talented hockey player within the UK at present. This really is a very big signing for the Coventry Blaze."

"I'll remember my four years in Basingstoke for a long time," said Chambers to Andy Buxton. "We had plenty of ups and downs during that time but I will always take with me some great memories of my time there. The fans were fantastic and they were always great to both me and the other players in the team. I'd like to thank them all for their terrific support.

"But it's time now for a new chapter in my career and I'm really excited to be joining Coventry. I want to be challenging for trophies and I'm looking forward to playing in some really big games for the club. They are a club with a great reputation with a history of success and I want to be part of that.

"I've played under Paul Thompson in the Great Britain team for the last couple of years so I know what a good coach he is and that he's the type of coach I will enjoy playing for. It's only April but I can't wait to get started now."
