Blaze Put Five Past Fife

Coventry Blaze beat Fife Flyers 5-1 tonight at the Sky Dome tonight.

Toms Hartmanis put the Scottish side ahead on 7.29 but the Blaze who hit eight goals at Hull on Friday night, were soon back amongst the goals, when Russ Cowley, who has his Testimonial game on Tuesday night, levelled on 18 minutes, assisted by Owen Fussey and Robert Farmer.

A second goal for Coventry came on 33.03 with a powerplay goal scored by Jon Weaver, assisted by Greg Owen and Mike McLean.

Blaze had 28 shots in the first two periods but in the third they had 21 and had three more goals to show for their efforts.

Greg Owen made it 3-1 on 41.59, assisted by Dustin Wood. Then on 48.02, Owen Fussey found the net, assisted by Shea Guthrie and Robert Farmer and a good win was finished off by another goal for Fussey on 52.31 with a power-play goal, assisted by Shea Guthrie.

The Blaze are away to Sheffield Steelers on Saturday before facing them at the Sky Dome on Sunday.
