Coventry Blaze won 4-3 after penalties tonight in an Elite fixture at Nottingham Panthers.

The Blaze delighted a good following when they took the lead when Owen Fussey scored on 4.30, assisted by Bryan Jurynec and Dave Phillips.

This was followed by a second goal on 5.13 when Dustin Wood found the net, assisted by  Mike McLean and Frantisek Bakrlik and then Greg Owen adding a third on 6.48 on the powerplay with an unassisted goal.

Nottingham came back five minutes into the second period when Mark Levers scored on 25.12.

In the third period, Nottingham piled on the pressure. Corey Neilson hit a second on 44.20  and with Dave Beauregard levelling on 58.53, the game went to over-time.

That failed to produce a goal, so it went to penalties and the Blaze scored to record a welcome victory.
