Coventry Blaze were beaten 4-1 tonight by Nottingham Panthers.

Over 250 Blaze fans made the journey to Nottingham for this must win game against the Panthers.

Paul Thompson had Danny Stewart and Matt Soderstrom back and had let Corey LeClair join the Panthers today but he did not ice.

The home fans in a full house of 5,000 sung "Where's Your Corey Gone" to the Blaze support and they were the ones cheering when they took the lead on a power play through Matt Myers.

Thankfully, the lead did not last and a great long shot from Jon Weaver equalised after 9.55 to leave the score at the end of the first period 1-1.

The Blaze fans were unhappy with the team's performance once more as they conceded a second goal on a Panthers power play to Jade Galbraith and then a third goal in the second period from Dan Tessler following a mistake by Jon Weaver when Blaze had the numbers.

This was the fifth time that Blaze had failed to score on a power play and drew comments from the travelling support used to seeing their side sweep all before them.

A fourth goal for the Panthers came 1.38 seconds in to the third period by Dan Tessier. Paul Thompson promptly sat down down for thirty seconds and look disgusted at his team who went through another two power plays without scoring.

Scott Kelman was man of the match with his game suited to a larger ice rink.

Tomorrow night's game against the Sheffield Steelers is very, very close to being a sell out. There are less than forty seats left in the Blaze allocation and 25 in the Sheffield end. Standing is still available
