Coventry Blaze were beaten 5-3 tonight at Edinburgh Capitals.

With coach Paul Thompson in America on business, Luc Chabot took charge of the Blaze team which was a goal down after only 26 seconds when Ben O'Connor's shot pinballed past Hirsch. That was the only goal of a first period in which both sides had eleven shots.

The second period saw Coventry equalise on 24.28 when Dan Carlson fired home assisted by Jon Weaver and eight minutes later, they went ahead thanks to a goal from Greg Owen,  who netted after Lee's shot had rebounded.

With nine minutes to play, Edinburgh levelled through a Lambert power play goal. He scored another straight afterwards and with 3.51 left, Kyle Horne hit a fourth.

Balze net minder Peter Hirsch was pulled just before the end and this gave Ben O'Connor his second goal on a powerplay and with five seconds remaining, Jon Weaver hit the third goal of the night for the Blaze who went down to a 5-3 defeat.

On Saturday, the Blaze are on the road again at Hull before the Stingrays come to the Sky Dome on Sunday.
