Coventry Blaze were beaten tonight in Belfast in an Elite League fixture.

Dave Phillips put The Giants ahead after 9.25, with Evan Cheverie adding a second six minutes later.

Just before the end of the second period, Adam Calder, who had picked up four minutes for holding and tripping, reduced the arrears scoring assisted by Dan Carlsson and Jon Weaver.

Unfortunately, for the Blaze supporters in the Odessy, many of whom had been in Bolzano for the Continental Cup, Steve Thornton scored for Belfast after 54,58 to make it 3-1.

The last time, the Blaze played in Belfas, the match ended with a punch up and towards the end, Barrie Moore and Scott Kelman (pictured below) were given ten minute penalties for ungentlemanly conduct.

The team and supporters fly back tomorrow in preparation for the next game against Newcastle Vipers at the Skydome on Sunday. Face off is at 6pm
