Blaze Keep Their Play-Off Hopes Alive

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team kept their hopes of making the play-offs alive with a 4-3 win over Nottingham Panthers at the Sky Dome.

The Blaze fell behind to a Jonathan Boxill goal on 11. 41 but were level two minutes and sixteen seconds later when Russ Cowley scored, assisted by Mike Egener and Cale Tanaka.

In the second period, Kelsey Wilson scored on 31.05, assisted by Russ Cowley and Benn Olson. Nottingham equalised through a powerplay goal from Lee Sellars on 33.36 and then took a 3-2 lead through former Blaze player Jonathan Weaver before Kelsey Wilson levelled on 38.35, assisted by Shea Guthrie.

There was only one goal in the final period and that decided the match with Ryan Ginand scoring on the powerplay at 49,54, assisted by Cale Tanaka and Nejc Berlisk.

Nottingham had Brent Henley given a game ban for cross checking as the Blaze took a vital win.
