Coventry Blaze beat Hull Stingrays 7-1 in a comfortable victory tonight at the Sky Dome.

After this disappointment of last weekend, when the Elite League Champions lost to Nottingham and current leaders Sheffield Steelers, it did not take long for Paul Thompson's side to get on the board.

Adam Calder was the man, firing home after 11.59 of the first period. Less than two minutes later, Sylvain Deschalets was assisted by Carlyle Lewis and Dan Carlson as he netted the second.

In the second period, Paul Thompson sent his side on the attack and four miunutes, 13 seconds in, Danny Stewart hit the third.

Calder then added his second of the night with Barrie Moore finding the net from a Scott Kelman assist on 28.34.

Blaze have not been strong on scoring when on a power play but on 31.24, Dan Carlson did when Steve Slonia was off the ice for interference.

Hull went a further man down, after Matt Reynolds had pulled once back when Jason Kostadine was given five minutes for a check from behind and then a game ban followed by another five minutes for fighting with Tom Watkins.

Just before the end of an eventful second period, the scoring was completed by Dan Carlson netting on 35.07.

Blaze travel to Manchester Phoenix tomorrow night. Face off is at 5.30pm. Then on Tuesday, they travel to Belfast Giants for a Knockout Cup tie before facing them at the Skydome 24 hours later.
